Heineken entered the Swiss market in 1984 and is now the second largest brewery in Switzerland. The foundation of the Heineken's success in the market are the two traditional Swiss breweries Calanda and Eichhof that were go back to the 18th century. Heineken Switzerland has its own wholesale beverages business with 25 distribution centers, distributed across all of Switzerland.
By late 2008, the leading beverage retailer did not operate an online order system.
